2020 6abc Dunkin Thanksgiving Day Shoebox Float Parade
The 6abc Dunkin Thanksgiving Day Parade has made its way down the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and into the hearts of the community for 100 memorable years. Hundreds of thousands of spectators traditionally line the streets of downtown Philadelphia to watch as the Parade marches by.
This year, to ensure the health and safety of the community, the 6abc Dunkin Thanksgiving Celebration will replace parade. However, make no mistake, the 101st installment of everyone’s favorite holiday tradition will be the most innovative show yet!
Staying connected to our viewers and our community is our number one priority. As part of the 2020 Thanksgiving celebration, we will host our community Celebration Shoebox Float Parade.
The 6ABC Thanksgiving Day Parade is the oldest Thanksgiving parade in the country and a true Philadelphia tradition. The city streets make way for massive floats and giant balloons, plus local performers from choirs, dance groups, marching bands and more. Each year, 150 Scouts and adult Scouters are extended an invitation to march in the 6ABC Thanksgiving Day Parade. This is not only a great experience for our Scouting families but allows our Scouting membership to be visible both to those who come out to watch the parade, but also to all of those in our area who watch it on 6ABC. The Cradle of Liberty Council works with Philabundance, ACME Markets, and 6ABC to collect food items as part of the annual food drive during the parade, carry banners for all parade elements and march with the ACME float. Those marching along the 1.4 mile route will be assigned one of the above roles the morning of the parade.
